In 1921, H. E. V. Pickstone offered the club land at Delta for ten shillings a year, with a condition that at least one cricket game be played annually. Members known as the Forest Span cleared and prepared the ground.

At a ceremony on the pitch, the field was officially named Pickstone Oval.
